Day 54 and the oil is still gushing from the ruptured pipe in the Gulf of Mexico.  More attention is being given to the possible long-term effect of this long-term environmental disaster. The media continues to capture images of wildlife covered in oil; thus bringing home the fact that this part of the ecosystem is being devastated.  Initially, the attention was given to the fate of the fisherman and the negative financial impact that they would have to incur.

It is in the book of Genesis where we find God establishing the order between humanity, the earth and the things of the earth. As humanity, we were called to subdue the earth and have dominion over it. In other words, God had given us the responsibility of being good stewards over his creation.  So now we find ourselves in a place of suffering destruction at our own hand.  

It goes without saying that from this experience we should never have to deal with something like this again; and more importantly be more thankful for that which God has entrusted us with.
