Cascade is honored to be a part of history once again, or to share a part of history as the benefactor of the leadership of Rev. Dr. Joseph Lowery.  This week Presidential Barack Obama awards Dr. Lowery the Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian honor.

Dr. Lowery was one of the few who believed in President Obama in the early stages of the presidential race, discounting the notion that Obama's youthfulness deemed him unqualified for President.  He took a stand, even disagreeing with some of his closest allies.  Dr. Lowery reminded everyone of his age when he marched with Dr. King.  He reminded everyone of the ages of Ambassador Andrew Young and Dr. King himself.

So then, as we witness a legend being rewarded for his faithfulness, we ask ourselves the question, "How much longer will we wait?"  How much longer will we wait befoe we make a difference?  What Dr. Lowery's legacy has taught us is that everyone at every age is capable of affecting change.  YES WE CAN!
