My, How Time Flies

Pastor Moss

It has been two years this month since the death of Michael Jackson-- an occurrence that devastated the world.  I say the world because Michael Jackson was an international figure.  His music and personality transcended race, gender, culture and age.  It is unfortunate that such an icon who possessed the ability to transform the world had to leave us so early.

In addition to setting numerous records with his music and awards, Jackson also broke records for his charitable efforts.  He reportedly gave to 39 charitable organizations and gave some 300 million dollars to various organizations.  So then, how can we move his legacy forward?

I would submit to you that in an age of despair, hopelessness and despondency that we continue to carry the message forward that We are the World.  And that as the world, we will care for one another, love one another, and encourage one another.  Whether you give of your time, talents or treasures, you can make a difference by giving back to your church or community.

We also know the lyrics of Jackson’s songs and his spirit remain with us.  So as we look at the Man/Woman in the Mirror and declare that We are the World, let us come together; yes Ebony and IvoryIt Doesn’t Matter if You’re Black or White.
