Pastor MossOn Tuesday of this week, President Barack Obama delivered an educational message to the students across the nation.  In his attempt to deliver an encouraging word amidst a backdrop of increasing dropout rates, decreasing test scores, and traumatizing truancy rates the President was met with unbridled opposition.  Despite the fact that his speech was released prior to addressing the students, some adults still feared that he would use this opportunity for political gain.

It is a sad day in America when some parents have no problem with allowing their children to watch countless hours of murder, violence and sex, yet they raise the roof when the President desires to speak to the future generation of leaders.

This is just one more example of realizing that despite how far we’ve come, we still have a long way to go.

As we allow our haters to become our motivators we must take President Obama’s message to the community ourselves.  Encourage one another, tutor, read to our children and let’s help prove the President’s point that education is the key to freedom for all people—regardless of race, creed or color.

Peace & love,
Pastor M.
