MISSION To help women who are leaving prison to become successful and empowered individuals by addressing their transitional needs in the areas of spiritual growth, personal development, interpersonal relationships, housing, and employment. Restoring Hope serves as change agents to help women obtain their goals of becoming positive and productive contributors to society and successfully reuniting their families. GOALS 1. To act as change agents to help women attain their goals of becoming positive and productive contributors to society. 2. To reunite women with their families and mentor women in transition by providing encouragement, support, and referrals for support. 3. To provide opportunities for education, training, and networking for previously- incarcerated women. 4. To support existing programs for previously incarcerated persons by networking with other ministries and organizations in the community engaged in prison re-entry and aftercare efforts. 5. To educate members of the Cascade Church and the wider community and engage their support to assist in the transition and development of the women transitioning out of prison. HOW WE SERVE CASCADE * Mentor the women assigned to the ministry and provide encouragement and referral to women who present requests. * Hold an annual conference and/or periodic workshops for previously incarcerated women that also engage church ministries, community supporters, and employers to support women transitioning from prison. * Attend trainings, networking sessions, and conferences to partner with community organizations and prison ministries from other churches. * Inform Cascade and the wider community about the needs of previously incarcerated women and enlist support and participation in ministry support as needed, as well as partner with other Cascade ministries such as Women’s Ministry, Computer Ministry, Crossroads Career Ministry, Business Alliance, and others. * Provide sessions that focus on job readiness, including completing applications, interviewing, and proper job etiquette. Provide appropriate work outfits for women preparing to begin a job. * Recruit volunteers from Cascade and other churches to be trained as mentors. * Meet regularly as a ministry for sharing and support of mentoring teams, planning for upcoming activities, study sessions and to keep ourselves spiritually grounded. |
