MISSION STATEMENT
Our mission is to provide opportunities for spiritual growth, nurturing, physical enrichment, sharing the Good News of God’s Grace, and Christian fellowship for older adult members of Cascade Church.
GOALS
- Increase the number of active members of the Torchbearers ministry.
- Improve the “image” of the Torchbearers ministry.
- Widen outreach programs in the community.
- Provide opportunities for witnessing and sharing of faith journeys.
- Improve networking and joint ventures with other ministries.
WHAT WE DO FOR OUR TORCHBEARERS!
- Work with the Disciple ministry to meet with new members.
- Invite current “eligible” church members (personally) to join our ministry.
- Join other ministries (such as Hospitality, let church know that we are Torchbearers.
- Develop activities that show us as being active, nurturing, busy, and knowledgeable.
- Bible Study
- Plan visits to other assist-living facilities to ascertain ways we can help.
- Reach out to the sick and shut-in of all members of Cascade.
- Invite other churches to join us for special programs conferences and trips.
- Include volunteer informal/formal “witness” presentations in our regular meetings.
- Produce videos of life stories for publication
- Support the church through volunteering: assembling The Messenger, answering the phone during “busy” times as needed, etc.
- Support the Outreach Coordinator by working in the Clothes Closet and preparing food for the homeless and serving the residents at Peachtree and Pine Shelter.
- Volunteer at the Women and Children’s Shelter (read, provide appropriate educational and entertaining activities, etc.)
- Donate commercial and non-commercial educational aids; i.e., flash cards, games, books, etc.
- Partner with the Care Giver’s Ministry in reading and sharing with children in hospitals
(members and non-members).
