GROUP DESCRIPTIONS
- Caretaker's Support Group
There is an old adage which says that "If the caretaker does not take care of him or herself; they may be in the grave before the one that they are taking care of." Caretakers need respite (relief) from their duties. They need time to revitalize themselves. (recharge their batteries). This group will serve as a focal point where caretakers can come together and share what their needs are with people who understand. The expressed needs of the group's members will determine the direction the group goes in, with the help of the group leaders/facilitators.
- Grief and Loss Support Group
Death is a part of living. All will experience the death of someone that they care about, during their lifetime. Sometimes one will be able to resolve their grief, on their own. There are times, however, when one needs help to work through the seven stages of the grief process. This group will facilitate healing from the loss of a significant other. Lead Facilitator/Group Leader-Richard Harris.
- Challenged Relationships Support Group
Conflict in relationships is normal; if people are being honest with each other. The issue is whether conflict is resolved constructively or destructively. Sometime input from someone outside of the relationship can be helpful. If a relationship involves domestic violence; then group is the recommended mode of support. If a relationship involves a significant other who is a substance abuser; then once again group is the recommended mode of support. If you are involved in any stage of the divorce process; then this group is where you can get support. This group will provide opportunities for healing and problem resolution from the types of relationship issues previously addressed.
- Partnership Against Domestic Violence [PADV]
Relationship abuse or domestic violence can happen to anyone. It can happen to couples who are married, living together or just dating. A women's support group will provide assistance to victims who left violent relationships or continue to live with the abuser. This group for women will provide a safe place for victims to come together and share experiences, offer encouragement, prayer and support. Women can freely express themselves, vent and discuss their past experiences or current situation, without fear or judgment but with the expectation of results and spiritual uplift.
