MARVIN ANTHONY MOSSSENIOR PASTOR, CASCADE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
Pastor Marvin A. Moss and his Cascade United Methodist Church family are living examples of their 2009 theme, Seeking GOD’s Will, Serving GOD’s People, and Sharing GOD’s Word. Cascade strives to be a Christ-centered church which utilizes the spiritual gifts of the congregation, while becoming an even more active partner in local, national and global communities. The church places an emphasis on developing quality programs which nurture children and youth, and teach the principles of giving time, talents and resources. Reverend Moss is the Senior Pastor of Cascade United Methodist Church. He assumed this position on June 22, 2006, having served as Senior Pastor at St. James United Methodist Church in Alpharetta, Georgia since 1999. Prior to his pastoral duties at St. James, he was Associate Pastor at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Decatur, GA., from 1994 until he was re-assigned in 1999. Since coming to Cascade, Pastor Moss has completed two (2) mission trips to Africa: Malawi in 2007and Ghana in July, 2008. In addition, Pastor Moss is currently a Doctoral candidate at Drew University; and was recently appointed to the Board of Trustees at Gammon Theological Seminary. Pastor Moss is involved in the greater Atlanta community at many levels including the Grady Health System Board of Visitors, the Regional Council of Churches, the Board of the Andrew & Walter Young Family YMCA and the Georgia Department of Corrections Faith and Community-Based Advisory Board, and Board Member for the Joseph E. Lowery Institute for Justice and Human Rights. Marvin Anthony Moss was born on May 23, 1963, in Goldsboro, North Carolina. He was educated in the public schools of North Carolina and graduated from Goldsboro High School. He is a graduate of Hampton University, the Naval Chaplains Reserve Officers School, and holds a Masters of Divinity from Gammon Theological Seminary at the Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC). He is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and 100 Black Men of Atlanta, Inc. He was the recipient of the Denman Evangelism Award in 2003, and the Freeman United Methodist Men Leadership Award in 2005. On January 1, 2009, Pastor Moss became the recipient of the NAACP Emancipation Award presented by the Atlanta Branch NAACP during the Emancipation Proclamation “Jubilee Day” service held at Cascade. In April of 2009, he became one of 58 highly selective inductees into the Martin Luther King Jr. Board of Preachers of Morehouse College. |
