MY BAD – Mighty Youth Building Awesome Disciples

Atlanta, GA (April 16, 2007). The youth at Cascade United Methodist Church just opened “YOUTH SPACE” -- their very own space within Cascade Church. The walls are painted red and the room is decorated with furnishing they picked out. There is a ping-pong table, computers, television games, books and magazines, and things that young people between 12 to 18 years of age like to do. This is their space – a place to gather to be with their peers seven days a week and in the evenings when the church is open.

YOUTH SPACE came about through the efforts of Minister Paul Thibodeaux, the Cascade Youth Pastor, and his determination to keep youth active in the church. “Our goal is to build disciples for Christ by fostering spiritual, personal and social growth in youth,” says Minister Thibodeaux.

The Youth Ministry at Cascade United Methodist Church exists to build self-confidence and encourage the development of a clear vision for their future through continued exposure to Bible study, African-American heritage, volunteerism and personal/career development. The theme for the Cascade Youth is MY BAD – Mighty Youth Building Awesome Disciples.

The Youth Ministry at Cascade is involved in building a spiritual development program relevant to today’s youth; reinforcing educational experiences; providing a safe place for youth to express themselves confidently; providing a mentor relationship that helps youth in the future; building a solid base of parental support; sponsoring fun activities for relaxation and fellowship; sponsoring outreach activities and mission trips; and reaching out to bring more youth into the youth ministry.

Reverend Marvin A. Moss, Senior Pastor of Cascade United Methodist Church, and a parent of three young boys, is a firm believer in the Youth Ministry. “We have a dedicated leader in Minister Thibodeaux and the entire church family at Cascade is enthusiastic about YOUTH SPACE. This is just another example of the Light in the Community that Cascade continues to shine; this light now shines brighter for our youth.”
