A Message from Pastor Murriel

Greetings Cascade Family and Friends,

In 2008 when I moved to Atlanta to attend Emory, Cascade was one of the first churches I visited. Immediately when I entered the church, even as a guest, I felt the sweet Spirit of God emanating through the people. Little did I know that God would be gently connecting our spirits together that would allow me three years later to serve as an associate pastor here and then two years later return to serve as your Senior Pastor.

Ashleigh, Scarlett Grace and I are eager to serve alongside you to lead us in a spiritual revolution that will change the lives of thousands around the world. Imagine Cascade being the place that people from all walks of life turn for their spiritual growth and development. Imagine God using us to build houses for the disenfranchised, to address serious social issues, or start churches inside and outside of the U.S. to see more people come to know the love of Jesus Christ. Imagine young adults from all over the city finding a place that speaks their language and cares for them during the tough periods of career development, relationship engagement, and family building.

I envision our church being on the cutting edge of technology and digital evangelism while being in ministry with our children all the way to our older adults. I can see us living into our calling as a social justice minded congregation standing up for the most vulnerable among us and making the church a relevant voice in the struggle for justice around the world.

In essence, I see Cascade United Methodist Church as a place for everyone. As we move forward towards building God’s Kingdom, if you know of anyone looking for a place to learn the Word of God, experience the power of the Holy Spirit, and fellowship with loving and compassionate people, then invite them to Cascade. This is a new day and I look forward to walking in the favor of God with each of you.

Stay the course,

Pastor Murriel
